Hero Bread™ looks, tastes, smells, and feels exactly like the "regular" bread you're used to, because it is bread! The difference is that you can eat our bread with complete freedom from the guilt and nutritional downsides associated with "regular" bread, because ours has 0g net carbs* and 0g sugar per serving. Once you take a bite yourself, you'll understand exactly how big of a deal this is.
*Net Carbs = Total Carbs - Dietary Fiber
In addition to 0g net carb, our Hero Bread™ also contains the following per slice:
4g protein
10g fiber
0g sugar
40 calories
“Net carbohydrates” are the carbs in food that are fully digestible and absorbed by the body. This is different from “total carbohydrates” as that includes all the different types of carbohydrates found in a food such as dietary fiber, which passes through the digestive system without being completely broken down and absorbed by the body. Net carbs can be calculated by subtracting Dietary Fiber from Total Carbohydrates listed on a product’s nutritional facts panel.
Yes
Our products are not yet "certified kosher"
Our fearless - or as some might say, Heroic - leader, Cole Glass, talks about his journey of creating Hero Bread™ here
Yes, Hero Bread™ products do contain gluten.
Resistant wheat starch is classified as a dietary fiber. Dietary fibers are not fully broken down and digested which allows us to create bread with 1g net carb per serving. Regular wheat flour contains many net carbs that are broken down into simple sugars and absorbed by the body during digestion.
It tastes just like bread, because it is bread! Just new and improved bread. Specifically, the Hero Bread™ Subway Loaf available at SubwayⓇ has an Italian bread flavor profile.
Shelf Life and Storage
For the best experience, we recommend enjoying your bread within five days of arrival. Whatever bread you are not ready to eat, we recommend freezing upon arrival. Our bread freezes and thaws wonderfully 🙂
